Professor Jane Setterfield qualified in Dentistry from The Royal London Hospital and in Medicine from University College Hospitals, London. She trained in Dermatology at St John’s Institute of Dermatology and is also a specialist in Oral Medicine. She has undertaken clinical research at the University of Connecticut, USA and has an active research programme at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals.
Professor Setterfield’s current posts are as a Consultant Dermatologist at St John’s Institute of Dermatology and an honorary Consultant at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust. Her academic position at King’s College London, St John’s Institute and the department of Oral Medicine is Professor of Oral and Dermatological Medicine.
She has broad expertise in the full range of dermatological diseases including acne, eczema, pigmented lesions, inflammatory skin diseases, autoimmune disorders, skin cancers, blistering conditions as well as oral medicine and vulval disorders.
Her academic and research interests are in the area of inflammatory diseases with a particular emphasis on the immunobullous disorders and lichen planus. She has published widely in these areas and speaks nationally and internationally on these topics. She is a member/fellow of many UK and international professional bodies including:
